5. Practically Imperfect

From across the room he saw her that Sunday morning, naked, surrounded by a sea of sheets, with the light through their city windows shining on her messy brown hair. He really saw her though. Her beauty so obvious, and natural, why hadn't he seen it everyday? He saw who she really was that Sunday, lost and complicated, scared and vulnerable, sexual and manipulative, wrong and kind, in love with love. 

He saw her beauty that Sunday in it’s whole, because he stopped searching for excuses, right when she had found all the answers.   

She cried that weekend somewhere away from the city, to someone unexpected, wearing something beautiful.

A Stripped Look to Live In for Fall & Winter

It's always been crazy to me how specific smells, or music, can bring you right back into a memory. When I was 15 I had my first slow dance to We Belong Together by Mariah Carey. (LOL). Obviously we did NOT belong together, but yesterday I was walking down East 2 and Bowery, the song came into my headphones, and I was transported into that moment. It was almost like a wave of nerves came over me, remembering how scared I was to take the dance floor with a boy for the first time. Growing as a kid into yourself, and making those memories, is what shapes us all, so when they come back later in life, it gives us a new opportunity to really see how far we have come emotionally.  

I don't usually say things like; everyone needs this, but I think a good stripped shirt is a real must for fall. I love this turtleneck via. J.Crew. It can be dressed down with leather jacket and jeans, or up, for a dinner out under a dress. Stripes and a pop of color, is an easy way to make an outfit look thoughtful.

60 Degree New York Black Friday

Black Friday shopping has never really been my thing. So I spent this Black Friday having coffee in the East Village with friends, in the sun, outside of my favorite cafe, 9th Street Espresso. It was 64 degrees here in the East Village, and a really quiet day in the city. I always wonder where everyone is when the city is so quiet. It feels surreal. This was my first Thanksgiving away from my family, and a few close friends and I went to a loft party in Soho. There were floor to ceiling windows that you walked through to get out to the huge fire escape, that overlooked Greene Street, with a perfect view of freedom tower. We laughed all night, enjoyed each other, and really realized how lucky we all are to being growing and dreaming in the best city in the world.

Simple Way to Style This Seasons Staple; The Bomber Jacket

If street style picked it's favorite item last season, I think it's safe to say that was the bomber jacket! From show to show all the "cool girls" were sporting their vintage inspired bombers in wild colors and prints, almost instantly sparking a new trend. The latina in me wants to wear my gold hoops, slick my baby hair down, and put some clear lip gloss on, (haha) but for now I'll keep that as secret apartment behavior, as I blast old school Ashanti, and slip back to being 15 again. To be that calm, he always made it seem like everything was okay, or maybe everything was for him. He was always simpler than she was. He tried not to fall for a wanderer, but her eyes were electric, her laugh infectious, and her smile, well her smile could light a thousand moonless nights.

Overcast Afternoons; A Favorite Gingham Top

I love storms. I always have. My Dad growing up would make me go outside in the craziest weather to watch the clouds and the light after the storm passed and moved. I love him for that. Seeing nature, and watching the world act in it's uncontrolled state, is part of understanding you're own place in it.

Pixie Market is always a fun go to online shop that I love to frequent! It's a get it while it's hot place, because the good stuff usually sells out in a few hours after posting. I recommend checking it out! I first pictured this top with a high waisted black bikini bottom, a straw hat, and the French Riviera, (very Bardot esque), but I am currently in overcast NYC, and thought leather leggings & moto boots was a more practical option! I'll be dreaming of my toes in the sand!
